Book Club - Hatchet

Service Description

This Book Club is designed for students in grades 6 through 8. Hatchet is a novel that you can purchase off of Amazon. You can also access audiobooks for this text. This makes this Book Club accessible to students who are not yet decoding words at this level. If your child would benefit from support with decoding, we recommend signing up for a 1:1 literacy tutoring session. The focus will be on reading comprehension skills and strategies. Students will be expected to read the assigned chapter(s) before each meeting and be prepared to discuss what happened in the text. Students will learn how to structure paragraphs and will be expected to submit their written responses within 4 days of the book club meeting in order to receive feedback from the instructor. This book club requires a minimum of 5 students to run and is capped at 10 students. There will be no refund issued to missed classes.
